Y, Za, Zb, Zc). SUPPLEMENT SET FOR 5 AND 6 PLAYERS Before the first game, press-out the card pieces. The reverse sides show a different pattern to the parts in the standard game to enable both sets to be separated. For the 5 and 6 player game: use all hexagon tiles from both sets, but only use the number chips from the supplement set. BOARD STRUCTURE The island will now consist of 30 land tiles arranged as illustrated and 22 sea tiles. A) Put all land tiles face down in a shuffled stack. Draw 6 tiles and align them as shown to form the middle column (marked 6 in the diagram) of the island. Then draw tiles to complete the columns right and left of this. Continue drawing tiles to complete columns to the left and right until the land component of the island is built as shown. B) Now place 22 sea tiles around the land tiles, alternating sea with harbours. C) Place the number chips from the expansion set only letter-side up. Begin in a corner and spiral in towards the centre of the island. Neither of the desert tiles receive a number chip. The last three chips carry two letters (Za, Zb, Zc). The robber starts on either one of the deserts as desired. COURSE OF THE GAME Play proceeds as in the standard game - with one exception. Whoever's turn it is (assume player A), the player can normally take three actions:1 The player musdt roll the die and raw material production then follows; 2 The player may then deal or trade; 3 The player may build or buy development cards. Now the exception When player A has finished building, an extraordinary building phase begins: all other players are also now allowed, in turn, to build and/or buy cards. Thus, player A has just finished his/her building phase. Before passing on the die to the next player, A inquires if someone else wants to build. Whoever responds to this immediately builds and/or buys cards. If several players respond, the seat order becomes critical. Players build and /or buy in turn proceeding clockwise from player A. Important: During an extraordinary build phase, players are only allowed to build settlements, towns or cities and/or buy cards. Players may not trade any cards - each form of trade (domestic and by sea) is prohibited in this phase. TIP: Through the extraordinary build phase, players have the possibility to influence the game out of turn. If you possess the appropriate cards, you can get in first before other players.
