Books

For someone who doesn't drive, I have a surprising number of books on cars. Some are related to my interest in motor sports, but I do also enjoy these big coffee table jobs that are full of pictures of old Grand Prix cars. I particularly like the big cars of the 30's, 40's and 50's but the 60's Matras and Coopers, the Jackie Stewart Tyrell and the late 70's cars are among the most aesthetically pleasing. I also have a passing interest in Ferraris and Porsches but I'm sure a good picture book is as close as I'll get to owning one of those. Perhaps for this reason, I have set my car ambitions a little lower - an Audi 80 for sensible driving and an AC Cobra for the weekends. I don't know exactly what it is about the Snake but as soon as I saw (and heard) one, I knew it was the very car for me. The styling is spot on, the sound of the V8 is awesome and the performance isn't half bad either. In my humble opinion, these chaps working at drawing boards are wasting their time; the ultimate sports car has already been designed in the shape of the AC Cobra.
