Letter from the Editor
(November/December, 1996)

Another first: a double issue. I feel a bit guilty about counting this one release for two months but there was a huge pile of good stuff coming in and very little chance that I would have time to deal with it in December what with Christmas and all so I just had to do it.

Here it is.

Be sure to take a stroll through Essen Spiel with Kurt Adam. Kurt has taken some excellent photographs of the games day (and even managed to slip himself into a snap with some Spanish nobility). Inspired by his trip to Essen, Kurt has also been churning out translation after translation including the long awaited translation of 40 variants for Igel Ärgern, the hedgehog racing game, and Pico, the latest game by Doris & Frank.

This issue is, once again, dominated by American releases. Maybe Siggins is right and the European market is slowing down, after all! I'm particularly pleased to see even more small publishers breaking in to the market. Check out the reviews of new releases from Cheapass Games and Rhino.

And, to keep you busy while your turkey digests, we have not one but two original games that require little if any cutting and pasting (hooray!). Check 'em out and let me know what you think.

Finally, I would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday season filled with games and merriment.

See you next year!
