This year's nominations for German Game of the Year are:
Personally, I'm pulling for Reibach & Co. It is a great little game that represents the distillation of many design points from Alan R. Moon's previous work into a simple and fun game.
El Grande is also an excellent game but a bit too much of a gamer's game. Mü is another strong contender but doesn't really play in a family situation, either. Ab die Post! is a lot of fun but really too random and silly to make a satisfying Spiel des Jahres. Top Race is another reissue - did we learn nothing from Homas Tour? Speed is nice but so derivative of Set and, besides, there isn't much there really. I'm afraid I haven't played any of the others. Comments?
